Chief Commercial Officer (retail)

For a leading non-food retail company, a key player in its market, we are searching for a results-driven Chief Commercial Officer overseeing purchasing, merchandising, pricing, and trade marketing functions.

This critical role demands a strategic leader with strong negotiation skills and proven operational execution to drive significant business growth.


Job description:

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive commercial strategy with direct responsibility for the Buying/Purchasing, Private Label, Merchandising, Trade Marketing, Pricing & Revenue Management departments (30+ people)
  • Formulate and execute product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies
  • Drive company profitability by maximizing margins across all sales channels, including retail stores and e-commerce
  • Responsible for the realization of company goals, including market share growth, budget tracking, P&L management, and the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Launch new brands and adapt to market trends in the Polish market
  • Pricing management, trends monitoring, and competition mapping
  • Defining and leading key projects with a strong focus on execution and operational excellence
  • Drive team performance by setting clear priorities, motivating team members, and fostering effective teamwork
  • Reporting on commercial scope directly to the CEO

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in senior commercial leadership roles within the Non-Food, Non-Fashion retail industry
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop a high-performing purchasing and marketing teams
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to develop and implement long-term commercial strategies
  • Experience in managing and negotiating with key suppliers
  • Outstanding negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
  • Sound understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and profitability analysis
  • Advanced data analysis and decision-making skills with the ability to analyze market data and translate insights into actionable strategies
  • Results-oriented with a strong work ethic
  • Fluency in Polish & English (written and spoken) is essential
